Inheritance of power
Hosni to Gamal.

The Egyptian leader, Hosni Mubarak had served the country for 30 years. Mubarak's 30-year ruling the country made him the longest serving President in Egypt's history, with his National Democratic Party (NDP) government. Although Mubarak's government earned the support of the West and a continuation of annual aid from the United States by maintaining policies of suppression towards Islamic militants and peace with Israel, it doesn’t mean that he gained supports from his people.  His brutal dictatorship makes the people feel uneasy with him plus the other issues regarding poverty. In Egypt, 30% of the population lives in extremely poverty while Mubarak’s fortunes are believed to be worth $70 billion.

There is proverb “Like father like son” which referring to Hosni and his son to have same character. Another speculation grew that Gamal will take over his father position and has tendency to inherit his father’s brutal dictatorship. When Egyptian feel uneasy to the Hosni regime, they will also oppose his son to replace his father.

Hosni (left) is said to leave his position and speculation said that Gamal (right) will take over the post.
